The world is mourning the loss of a beloved actress. Phyllida Law, the Scottish actress and mother of Emma and Sophie Thompson, has died at the age of 94.
Per Deadline, her longtime manager, Jacky Leggo, confirmed that Law “died supremely peacefully at home, surrounded by all her family” on July 27. A cause of death was not provided.
Born on July 6, 1932, in Glasgow, Scotland, Law originally didn’t have a plan to work on the stage. Instead, she planned to work as a stage designer, but her love for acting couldn’t keep her from pursuing a career in front of the camera.
She went on to build a career that began in the 1950s and continued for a decade. She appeared in many productions, including Much Ado About Nothing,The Time Machine, and Nanny McPhee.
