White House addresses theory claiming ‘Zapper lady’ has button to wake sleeping Trump up

 

The internet was convinced a woman was ‘zapping’ Donald Trump awake at bill signing.

A viral theory that a woman standing behind Donald Trump during an Oval Office bill signing was secretly pressing a button to keep him awake has been shut down, by both the White House and the woman herself.

The moment came on Monday when Trump signed an executive order on federal guidance for childhood vaccines.

Rather than focusing on the order, social media users became fixated on a woman standing behind him named Jayne Franklin.

Franklin is a former Trump staffer and current CEO of conservative media brand The Conservateur.

Franklin’s hand was resting across her stomach and appeared to move occasionally, which was all the internet needed.

The theory that took off

Writer Tim Brannigan shared a clip of the moment on X, writing: “Claims she has a button fitted on her belly, and when she gets the nod that he’s asleep she moves her hand and presses a button that wakes him. They’re calling her The Zapper. No idea if it’s true but it appears to line up.”

The post spread rapidly. Reactions ranged from delighted to skeptical.

Bro’s getting rebooted like a malfunctioning laptop,” one person wrote. “The way her hand IS right there and he looks DEAD asleep I can’t do this anymore,” added another. A more measured commenter pointed out that if someone actually wanted to secretly zap a president awake, they probably wouldn’t do it on camera in the Oval Office.

White House and ‘The Zapper’ respond

Davis Ingle, White House Spokesman, told UNILAD that Trump was in fact fine.

“President Trump is the sharpest and most accessible President in American history who is working nonstop to solve problems and deliver on his promises,” he said, also taking the opportunity to criticize the previous administration’s handling of Joe Biden’s health.

Franklin herself also responded on X: “I’m just pregnant you weirdos.”
