Karoline Leavitt is out as press secretary, but the 28-year-old confirmed Friday that she’ll return to MAGA Inc., Trump’s super PAC, once her final month wraps up.

She made the announcement while talking to reporters aboard Air Force One, with her exact title remaining a mystery. But the move brings her back to familiar territory, since she worked as a spokesperson for the same group before joining Trump’s 2024 campaign.

Trump said on Truth Social she was leaving to “spend more time with her beautiful young children and family.” Leavitt put it more personally. She said she couldn’t be “the best mom” her kids deserve while also handling the nonstop demands of the press secretary role.

She’d only just come back from maternity leave on July 16, which is less than two months after giving birth.

No replacement is yet announced

Speaking aboard Air Force One, Leavitt admitted she’ll miss the job, but then added: “I love my kids even more.”

Her family plans to stay in D.C., and she told reporters, “You guys will still see me all the time.”

Her last official trip as press secretary was Friday’s flight to South Carolina for a Lindsey Graham rally. 

No replacement has been named as of now, but some names keep showing up in discussion.

Deputy press secretary Anna Kelly is one of them, she previously worked as national press secretary for the RNC. Communications director Steven Cheung is another possibility, along with conservative podcaster and former Pence press secretary Katie Miller. Former ESPN anchor Sage Steele, who campaigned for Trump in 2024, has also been suggested.
